For open continuous positions, you may apply once every six months if you are not selected for an interview or hired.

For open and closing positions, you must apply each time the position opens.

Your name will remain on an eligibility list for six months for open continuous positions.

Not all job seekers will be granted an interview. The hiring manager or the manager's designee determines which applicants will be interviewed.

Offers of employment are contingent upon several factors, including successful completion of the pre-employment physical and drug screening.

If you do not successfully complete the pre-employment physical or fail the drug screening, the offer of employment will be rescinded and you will not be hired.

The Human Resources Department will consider your criminal conduct when determining your suitability for a particular job, but there are no general prohibitions against hiring you.

Relevant factors may include the duties of the position, the nature of the misconduct, how recently it occurred and any evidence of rehabilitation.

Some regulations may prohibit an applicant from working in certain positions based on a specific conviction. The most common examples are positions at the County Jail or Work Annex. These positions require applicants to pass a background screening conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Human Resources must complete several pre-employment checks before an applicant can begin working. These checks help protect the health and safety of current employees.
