The Santa Rosa Island Authority will launch their free, open-air trolley service along Pensacola Beach this Memorial Day weekend, beginning Friday, May 26. The 2023 Pensacola Beach Island Trolley, operated by Escambia County Area Transit, will run daily from 4 p.m. to midnight through Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4.

The ECAT bus stop on the north side of Cervantes Street at N Street will be temporarily closed Wednesday, March 16 through Saturday, March 19 as crews perform construction activities associated with the safety improvement project. Riders may use alternate bus stops on the north side of Cervantes Street at L and Q streets.

Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) 1459 bus was involved in a motor vehicle crash with a truck on Route 52 at Fairfield Drive and Palafox Street. The bus was stationary at the time of the crash. Four passengers were on the bus. Three were transported to a local hospital by Escambia County EMS. Escambia County Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene. No other routes are affected by the crash. ECAT buses will continue to run as scheduled.

In an abundance of caution, the Santa Rosa Island Authority (SRIA) has canceled the Pensacola Beach Island Trolley service for Sunday, Aug. 29, 2021, due to the remnant weather from Hurricane Ida. Trolley service will resume again on Monday, Aug. 30, at 4 p.m.

An Escambia County Area Transit bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident near N. Davis Highway and E. Fairfield Drive. There were no injuries reported by the bus driver or bus passengers; however, seven patients from other vehicles were transported to a local area hospital by Escambia County EMS. Another bus will be picking up ECAT route 52.
