FlexTransit FAQs
FlexTransit offers a convenient and affordable on-demand shared ride service in Escambia County, Florida. This service pairs multiple passengers traveling in the same direction into a single vehicle, providing efficient transportation. FlexTransit also connects passengers from their pickup location to the nearest fixed-route bus stop.
What are the hours for Flex Transit?
FlexTransit operates Monday through Saturday, 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. FlexTransit is closed on Sundays and all National and County recognized holidays.
How much notice do I need to give?
Please make your reservations at least one day in advance. Trips can be scheduled up to seven days in advance. Same-day trips are not available.
Who can ride on Flex Transit?
Anyone can ride on FlexTransit. Children under 13 are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.
How much does Flex Transit cost per ride?
FlexTransit trips are $2.50 each way.
How can I pay for my trips?
- In-App
- Pay your fare through the FlexTransit app and leave the cash at home. Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to download the app and read the steps to get started.
- Flex Tickets purchased at the ECAT Customer Terminal
- Passengers can purchase FlexTransit tickets Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the ECAT Customer Terminal. Each ticket is good for a one-way fare.
- Cash
- Exact fare must be paid when you board the vehicle. Drivers do not make change and are not allowed to go into purses, pockets, or backpacks for customers’ fare, even with a customer’s permission
Do I need to bring my own car seat when I book a ride with my child?
Yes. Florida law requires children under 5 years old or weighing less than 80 pounds to use a car seat provided and secured by the accompanying adult.
How do I book a Flex ride without a smartphone?
You can still book a FlexTransit ride without a smartphone. You can visit flextransit.rideco.com or call our office at 850-471-6657.
Where can FlexTransit take me?
FlexTransit can take you anywhere within designated zones - restaurants, shopping centers, medical offices, bus stops, etc. You decide where you want to go and when. When traveling, you will go from the trip address origin to the destination.
How much notice do I need to give to cancel my trip, and whom should I call?
Please cancel your reservation at least 1 hour before the scheduled pick-up window. If you do not cancel the reservation at least 1 hour in advance, it will be recorded as a No-Show. To cancel a reservation, please call 850-471-6657. You may call to cancel your trip Monday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Will I have to share a ride with other passengers?
Yes, as ride requests come into the system, your ride may be grouped with other riders going to similar destinations.
How long will I have to wait?
You will receive real-time predictions as soon as a vehicle has been assigned. You can track your pending trip through the app and see the estimated time of arrival updates as your ride vehicle progresses toward you. Shared-ride service fluctuates as other rides are booked and canceled.
How long will a driver wait for passengers to get on the bus?
FlexTransit will wait for five minutes upon arrival at any location, allowing time for the customer to board/acknowledge the arrival of the bus. Passengers holding the bus for longer than five minutes may be considered a No-Show.
Can FlexTransit take me to work on a regular schedule?
FlexTransit takes standing orders for passengers who work a regular schedule or passengers who go to the same location on a regular basis. The passenger's only responsibility after making a subscription with FlexTransit is to call to cancel any scheduled trips they are not going to take at least 1 hour in advance. This will not interrupt a standing order.
Can I book multiple trips in advance?
Yes. Advanced trips can be booked up to 7 days in advance.
Are FlexTransit Vehicles Wheelchair Accessible?
Yes, all FlexTransit Vehicles are fully accessible. Our ramps make it easy to board in a wheelchair, scooter, walker, or stroller.
What is Transportation Disadvantaged?
Individuals who are physically or otherwise disabled, 60 years of age or older, or who qualify as low income, may be eligible for the Transportation Disadvantaged program service.
