What Is the Student Transit Empowerment Pass?
The Student Transit Empowerment Pass (S.T.E.P) is an ID card that ECAT offers to area youth at no cost.
Who is the Student Transit Empowerment Pass for?
Youth ages 18 and under are eligible for the S.T.E.P ID card.
How long is the pass good for?
The S.T.E.P. ID card is valid from October 1 to September 30, annually.
Can I still get a pass if I am home-schooled or in a vocational school?
Yes! The S.T.E.P. ID card is available to all youth ages 18 and younger.
Where are some places I can go with my S.T.E.P. card?
The S.T.E.P. ID card gives youth access to our fixed route system and commuter routes. Transfers are also included. Here are just a few examples of where ECAT can take you with the Summer Wheel Pass.
- Area beaches
- Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida
- Community centers and camps
- Movie theaters
- Shopping malls
- Museums
How do I apply?
Applications for the Student Transit Empowerment Pass may be obtained at ECAT’s Customer Service Department, at 1515 West Fairfield Drive. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Please call 850-595-3228 for more information..
Please bring proof of identification and return completed applications to the ECAT Administration Office so that you may obtain your S.T.E.P ID card.
Examples of Proof of Identification are:
- State-issued photo identification
- Passport
- Social Security card
I would like to get a S.T.E.P. ID card, but both my parents work and can’t come with me to fill out the application. What now?
The Student Transit Empowerment Pass application can be picked up in person at our Customer Service Department, or you may download the application here. Your parents can sign the application at their convenience and the application can then be returned to us.
Applications must be returned in person with proof of identification and your parents’ signature. Student Transit Empowerment Passes must be picked up in person, they cannot be mailed to you. Applications that are submitted without proof of identification or parent or guardian signature will not be accepted.
